15 years of Kayaking trips
2011 marks 15 years since we set up Clearwater Paddling, and 10 years since we ran our first Outer Hebrides tour.
Back in 1996 we ran a single trip to Solund, in Norway and then five years later we moved to Barra and in that year, ran one trip based here and two trips in Norway.
In 2011 we will be running over 25 weeks of tours all around the west of Scotland, so things have certainly changed in the last 15 years. To mark the anniversary we are offing two brand new tours. ‘Island Food Weekends’ highlights the fantastic array of food, locally sourced from around the Hebrides, and adds it to the very best paddling. The second new tour is the ‘Magic of Barra Mix’, which incorporates kayaking and walking around Barra, biking and walking in Eriskay and South Uist, and a boat trip to explore the beautiful island of Mingulay.
2011 will also see us highlighting our green credentials. For starters we have reduced our brochure in size by 50%. We will also continue to make our office as paperless as possible, making as much use of the internet as possible. On our tours we will also push to use more and more of the wonderful local produce from around the islands. Sarah, our cook, is always looking at new ways to use the produce from her croft and locally caught fish and shellfish. We will also look at making more use of this on our camping trips and particularly on our new wild food tour.
Thank you for visiting our web site and we hope you
enjoy it.
