Trinidad Exploration

Our new Trinidad tour offers a fantastic variety of adventure. Take some lovely sea kayaking and mix this with rainforest hikes and wildlife encounters for a truly Caribbean experience.

Arrive and transfer to Carnetta’s Inn. Our kayaking begins with a three day camping expedition on Trinidad’s North West coast. We will paddle to Gasparee then hike to Gasparee Cave with it’s amazing stalactites and stalagmites and swim in the cave’s emerald pool. We continue on to Scotland Bay were we camp for the night. Next day we will head out of the very calm bay into the ocean swells of the First Bocas and along the North Coast, passing the spectacular scenery as the Northern Range crashes into the Caribbean in a series of tall cliffs. We then head around Chacachacare, Trinidad’s largest offshore island before setting up camp. We return via the Gulf of Paria exploring several islands and small bays as we go.

In addition to the camping expedition we will have two other very different day trips. One explores the dramatic North Coast Ocean, kayaking for nine miles to Grande Riverre from Trinidad’s North East tip, where we may see dolphins and lots of birds
including pelicans and frigate birds.

In contrast we will a spend a day kayaking in the Caroni swamp (part of Trinidad’s West Coast Wetlands), which is teeming with wildlife, including Scarlet Ibis, herons, warblers and boas.
We will also take time to explore Trinidad by foot. We will head for
North East Trinidad, an area of spectacular and rugged beauty
where we hike through the unique and wondrous Mora Rainforest
before reaching the Rio Seco Waterfall, a gorgeous thirty-foot fall,
with a large deep pool at its base, perfect for a swim to refresh
you. On another day we head to Tamana Hill before hiking
to Tamana Cave where hundreds of thousands of bats
depart from their roost and fly all around you.

For anyone who enjoys something very different
then this is the tour for you. Great kayaking,
stunning scenery and wildlife encounters,
rounded off with a lovely variety of
accommodation.

Glad to get back to work for a rest! People won't believe how close we were to the basking sharks. Thanks again for the adventure.
